Sweet Catastrophe

i felt really accomplished yesterday. i picked up a bunch of gifts i need to get well in advance considering i don’t need them till mid-february. ryan and i got to have lunch yesterday too

then last night we went bowling with joolie and brandel. when we got there it was packed and they had a deal going starting at 11 so we headed over to waffle house to eat and waste some time. my hot chocolate was scalding! i stuck a straw in it and it almost melted it straight through.

i think we bowled 3 games. i bowled a strike! i can’t remember if i’ve ever bowled a strike before. i don’t bowl that often. joolie and ryan got a little intoxicated which really made for an entertaining night. we didn’t get home till around 3. i was exhausted.

i’m really not looking forward to work. i’ve got a killer headache and i’m feeling kinda sickly. i have to be back up there at 7am tomorrow morning for a meeting. it’ll probably last until 8, and then i’ve got to turn back around and work 12-8. my day will be completely dominated by lowe’s. that’s crap.

i might as well have just taken the whole week off…i mean really. what a way to start off the semester.

holy crow. there’s a sara lee commercial with “happy happy joy joy” playing in the background and it’s quite mean. there’s SO much yummyness in that ad, it’s not even funny. i’m pretty sure i have to buy angel food cake and cool whip next time i leave the house. (hold the strawberries, please.)

i’m quite hungry now. i think it’s time for lazy-lunch. aka, probably a sandwich….melted so i don’t even have to bother spreading mayonnaise. yeah, that’s right, i’m that lazy today.

so i talked to my dad this morning and it was nothing but him talking to me like i couldn’t possibly understand anything about the job world, like i’m 12 and still owe him report cards (and before you say he’s paying for my education–he’s not. in fact, HE owes ME almost $3,000 right now. thanks.) and criticizing not just me, but ryan as well. that reaaaallly pissed me off. i know it’s really that he feels threatened by ryan because now that he’s seen us together a good bit and we’re living together, he knows this could be the man to truly take me away from him, the man to take his place in taking care of me. (though i’ve pretty much had that one covered for a long time now.) anyhow, in no way did he have any right to criticize ryan. (it was for some really insignificant crap…)

then he started asking about how i was doing in the apt and even asked if the kitty had tried to leave–to which i quickly let him know that we both love it here. he told me if it got ugly to let him know….wtf? it didn’t even get ugly when i left brittany’s and there was a lot of potential for ugliness in that situation. sorry to disappoint you father, but i actually know how to properly handle a situation like an adult. *cough*unlikeyou*cough* darn cold.

in other news–willow is fine it wasn’t a tumor or anything, actually, it was just a really bad patch of matted fur, but the vet agreed that it was really hard to tell whether it was all fur or a growth and that it was best that i had come in to take care of it. she’s just too fat to reach that spot she shaved her up a bit and gave me some really good tips to work on cutting her weight back (as opposed to the other vet who just always tells me she’s a little bigger than she needs to be and never offers any good solutions) she’s 13 pounds! i love her fluffy butt though! i like my kitty fat and happy, but i’ll definitely work on bringing her weight down some so she doesn’t get to a weight that’ll be dangerous for her. i’ll have a fit if anything serious happens to her.

8. I’m a really picky eater but I’ll try just about anything my bf suggests. (I probably trust him way too much :))
9. I’m deathly afraid of anything that stings and will run away screaming like there’s no tomorrow. I was stung 16 times at once by wasps and 26 times total that summer.
10. My best friend growing up had the same birthday as my grandmother and I have the same birthday as her grandmother.

yeah…i’m really loving how adding a youtube video completely skews my journal. i just really got my template set up the way i want it but i guess i’m gonna have to find a new template. that’s just not gonna cut it. i’ll have to make a new disclosure button and edit my tag box to fix all my colors. joy. i suppose that gives me another excuse to put off finishing Gilgamesh though!

really–i’ve had some rough times during concert trips, but this day really took the cake. this show was Jack’s Mannequin in atlanta. i was supposed to go to another in florida two days later, but i was having too many problems with my car still and i had no one to go with so i just gave up. that was really upsetting because i was hoping to get a better picture with andrew and actually make it to a decent spot in the pit (like i’m used to). but *le sigh* that didn’t happen. lucky me, i missed out on two other JM shows after that. yeah–some tears were definitely shed.

this makes me so sad. this girl isn’t even a year younger than me. does mary-kate honestly think she looks good? ashley isn’t much bigger, but at least she doesn’t look like a powerful sneeze could end her life and she goes for a little more natural look with her makeup. i really can’t imagine how she could feel comfortable walking out of the house looking like that. i mean obviously she doesn’t think she looks good at her weight, which is why she’s still a stick…but geeze.

i grew up on full house and well, i guess it’s just depressing to see someone from my childhood looking so desperately on the edge.

it’s really no fun to grow up. debts, deaths, disappointments, and some other bad things that don’t start with D. ignorance was bliss.

SACRAMENTO, California (AP) — A woman who competed in a radio station’s contest to see how much water she could drink without going to the bathroom died of water intoxication, the coroner’s office said Saturday.

Jennifer Strange, 28, was found dead Friday in her suburban Rancho Cordova home hours after taking part in the “Hold Your Wee for a Wii” contest in which KDND 107.9 promised a Nintendo Wii video game system for the winner.

“She said to one of our supervisors that she was on her way home and her head was hurting her real bad,” said Laura Rios, one of Strange’s co-workers at Radiological Associates of Sacramento. “She was crying, and that was the last that anyone had heard from her.”

It was not immediately known how much water Strange consumed.

A preliminary investigation found evidence “consistent with a water intoxication death,” said assistant Coroner Ed Smith.

John Geary, vice president and marketing manager for Entercom Sacramento, the station’s owner, said station personnel were stunned when they heard of Strange’s death.

“We are awaiting information that will help explain how this tragic event occurred,” he said.

Initially, contestants were handed 8-ounce bottles of water to drink every 15 minutes.

“They were small little half-pint bottles, so we thought it was going to be easy,” said fellow contestant James Ybarra of Woodland. “They told us if you don’t feel like you can do this, don’t put your health at risk.”

Ybarra said he quit after drinking five bottles. “My bladder couldn’t handle it anymore,” he added.

After he quit, he said, the remaining contestants, including Strange, were given even bigger bottles to drink.

“I was talking to her and she was a nice lady,” Ybarra said. “She was telling me about her family and her three kids and how she was doing it for her kids.”

can you believe that crap? and the poor woman didn’t even win the contest! if you do a quick search for it there’s another article with a little more info about how much she drank and the fact that a nurse even called in to warn them about the dangers but the djs shrugged it off, and the contestants weren’t warned beforehand of any possible health dangers. one of the contestants commented that after hearing about strange’s death, she was terrified to go to sleep that night, worried that she might not wake up. i can’t say i blame her. don’t those idiots remember the kid who died from drinking too much water in fraternity hazing? his heart stopped!

so basically, this guy found these shoes in argentina that he thought were amazingly comfortable, and he noticed the high demand for shoes. thus his idea is born, he’s selling these awesome shoes now and for every pair you buy, he donates a pair to someone in need.

they look like slip on vans or converse and they run about the same price as vans, and cheaper than converse, (they run about $38 from what i’ve seen, and shipping is really reasonable) but you’ve got to remember, you’re essentially getting two pairs for that price! one for you, and one for someone who probably has never owned a pair of shoes in their life!

my roommate just ordered a pair so i’ll be checking his out soon, and as long as these shoes turn out to be as great as i keep hearing they are, i’ll be ordering a pair or two in a few weeks when i get my financial aid excess.

i think it’s a really great cause and hey, you could always use another pair (or two) of shoes

i’m sitting here watching “looney bugs bunny movie” (which is basically a bunch of looney tunes shorts) and i now feel like educating you all on my favorite character.

does the name Gossamer strike a bell for any of you? unless we’ve discussed it before, i’m guessing it probably hasn’t, so here’s an image to help you out. this is one of my favorite images of gossamer.

now you know who i’m talking about, right? in the first episodes including him, he was called rudolph. he was later named gossamer by marvin the martian.

he’s my absolute favorite and i think it’s a shame he wasn’t used more!
