grumble

Sooo…I don’t have a day off from work again until next Wednesday. Next Wednesday is the first day of finals. I have one at lunch on Wednesday…a hard one. On Thursday, I have THREE.

  • 8am-10am Biology [There’s only the most microscopic chance that I can pass this class at this point, but I’ve got to at least try! D for ‘done’ folks!]
  • 10:15am-12:15pm ACED [This is my typing class. I’ll be finished fairly quickly; I hope.]
  • 12:30pm-2:30pm Spanish [I don’t even know what to say. It’ll either be really easy, or really freakin hard…]

Yeahhh….so I actually don’t have any sort of day off until next Friday. That’s over a week away.

And let’s not forget I have to do all that fun stuff you adults do after your 8-5 as well. I get to clean house, cook, do laundry, run errands and pay bills too! I love college.

And why do the freaking networks always go on hiatus during school holidays!? That’s when I actually have time to watch tv, ya geniuses!

Moments of Depp

Perhaps you’ve read a bit about my Johnny Depp love. It’s a tiny little obsession. It’s absolutely healthy…

I was asked today about some of my favorite Johnny Depp film moments and two popped into my head almost immediately. Both are comedic rather than drool worthy, which is surprising.

In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Johnny, as Willy Wonka, has this amazingly creepy laugh in one of the opening scenes. He puts a chocolate egg in Grandpa’s mouth to make a chocolate bird, and that laugh…oh man, Brittany I watched that scene on repeat! My dvd player has a feature where you can set it to play any specific part on loop…yeah, we utilized it!

Then we have the dirt scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Johnny, as Captain Jack Sparrow taunting Davey Jones saying, “I’ve got a jar of diiiirt!” Cracks me up! That probably has something to do with the video someone made, turning those lines into a song. *love*

I think if I was forced to choose, I’d have to go with the dirt scenes in Pirates. Not only is it hilarious, but Johnny’s a pirate. Pirates ftw!!

Those are both comedic, but I think when Sweeney Todd comes out, I’ll have some swoon-worthy scenes to throw in the mix, I mean, it’s Johnny Depp singing….does it get any better?! If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site and look at Johnny in all his vengeful glory. I squee every time I see it.

You can also visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace. I added him last week!! I drool over those images when I login!!

Moments in Retail

When you’re in a store, trying to accomplish something other than the absolute basics of buying and paying for items, do you listen to the words coming out of the employee’s mouth? You should.

Tonight I had some customers return a medicine cabinet.  First problem is that there’s no box, this comes into play later. So I get to the end of the transaction and tell them it’s going back on their Lowe’s account, and they nod and I proceed. They even confirm which authorized buyer it needs to be put under on the account.

As they’re walking away, they ask how they’re supposed to buy a new mirror, at which point it all comes out that it wasn’t their credit card– they don’t have the card with them. Information that would’ve been nice 5 minutes ago, thanks.

So we get that all settled after some not-so-easy maneuvering, and then it turns out, they told me the wrong item to refund on the receipt.

All of this because they weren’t paying attention to anything I said, they were just nodding.

*headdesk*

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Seriously, I’m getting an eBay migraine. Can I tell you how many Guitar Hero auctions I’ve bid on today? No. I can’t. I can’t count that high.

I wouldn’t be so bothered if I didn’t keep seeing these end at around $130. If you’re willing to spend $130, go to one of the Buy It Now auctions you ass! Leave my humble little auction alone!

I had a close call. I bid $103 just to jack the price back up…I had an angry moment…and I didn’t get outbid until it was down to 2 minutes and 23 left in the auction. I almost hoped I would get it, but I knew I’d regret it later. Anyone want to add the the “Jadeline Needs to Rock” fund? haha

How was my Birthday?

General 5 Comments »

Aside from a handful of phone calls, my Birthday didn’t really start until about 1pm. I had class until then–which was, luckily, relatively painless.

Walking home, I heard JR yelling Birthday wishes out of Andrew’s car. That produced a great smile :)

Once I got home, I opened the vestibule door, and I hear, “Wait Jade!!” and I pretty much had a heart attack since I’d just seen Andrew driving JR to class….I wasn’t expecting anyone to be home! So he made me wait outside and when they finally let me in, I found that he and Keri had decorated for me!

Streamers and balloons!! And they even got my desktop:

So then around 3, Ryan got home and we headed out to get my present. We ended up in GameStop where he pointed to the wall off Wii games and said, “Pick a game.” So I got a freakin Wii!!!! I got the Wii Play bundle that comes with another remote and he bought an extra nunchuck so we’ve got two of each! =)

I GOT A WIIIIII!

I’m okay, I promise. The plan was to go to Tallahassee and hit up Build A Bear and then go to the beach to watch the sunset before making it to dinner to wrap up the evening–but it was pretty much storming so I decided I wanted to stay in town.

So we headed home to set up the Wii and play for a bit when Keri, Andrew and JR came in with my homemade cookie cake!!

[It says “Happy Ghetto B-day Jade”] So they sang and we finally tried out the candles I got that have colored flames–might I mention those are really freakin’ sweet?

After that it was time to eat. Ryan wanted to go to Mori’s….which I basically love, but I made him go with me to try out the new Japanese hibachi restaurant which is pretty much the cheaper version. We had a great dinner :)

Then we stopped by Best Buy to pick up a thing to connect my Wii to the internet, which I later realized I didn’t need so I got my money back (wa-hoo!) And on home to play with the Wii some more!

The rest of the night was pretty much just hanging out with people and checking stuff out on the Wii. I felt really loved all day though!

So thank you to everyone who wished me Happy Birthday! This was honestly one of the best I’ve had in a few years :)

I’m still overly excited about my Wii. I’ve been looking online all over the place for different accessories, so if you’re one of the people I’m exchanging gifts with this year, my wish list will stay updated with the accessories I’m looking for, as well as all the dvds and other stuff.

I talked to my mom and she had been looking at some wholesale fashion jewelry, trying to find some earrings for me, but luckily she didn’t find any she liked so I’m getting cash! Wii accessories here I come =)

I’m currently trying my damnedest to get Guitar Hero III for the Wii. That’s one of the biggest things I want. The cheapest I know of that I can get it is $90, but I just don’t know if I can afford to spend that much on myself right now, so I’m really pushing it on eBay! Wish me luck!

Time to say goodbye to 21

General 5 Comments »

In just a few hours, I’ll be saying goodbye to my 21st year, and welcoming my 22nd.

I’ve gained some friends, and said goodbye to a few as well. I’d say overall it was a satisfying chapter in my life.

For just a few last times tonight, I’ll belt out “21 and Invincible” and really feel it =)

Here comes the double deuce!

How Gas Cards Should Work

Thoughts 4 Comments »

A few days ago, John and I were talking at work about all the gas price craziness.

I came up with, I think, a really awesome idea!

What if you could buy gift cards for gas? Not just normal gift cards, but what if, instead of buying $25 worth of gas, you could buy X-number of gallons? So say, today I purchase 10 gallons at $2.98 a gallon. Next week, price spikes again, but I’ve already paid for 10 gallons!

I really wish companies would consider this. I don’t think it would cause gas companies much of a loss, I mean, they could just do like normal retailers and jack up the price when we’re most likely to buy. Like at tax time, ’cause of course people would pay for a bunch of gas with their return!

I really don’t think it would be a hard thing to work out either.

Why?

I just finally watched “There’s Something About Mary” for the first time. I was gonna review it on Aftershocks, but seriously? Why do people enjoy this movie? The type of humor is what I usually enjoy, but it’s a retarded plot, with crappy acting and it’s just all so over the top…and it doesn’t even come off as being done on purpose…it just sucked.

I’m alive.

I survived Black Friday.

I actually only ever had to call for one item number, and it was a very quick call. I didn’t have any pricing problems at all! I also ended up with a really (really) lightweight vacuum for $15 today. I couldn’t resist trying it out and it works great on the carpet, the hardwood, and the tile! I’m really happy about that. I’m quite sick of having to walk around the apartment with either socks or shoes on to avoid gross feet. And being in socks, well, I assure you I’ve taken a liking to bleach when I wash our socks.

Anyway, about the time I made it back from lunch, I hit my grumpy stride. Business wasn’t as steady and I’m absolutely aching from all the furniture moving, strenuous cleaning, and baby-chasing I’ve done in the past three days. My right knee is very angry with me. I managed to talk my way into leaving at 8:30 instead of 9. I’m not expecting the same kind of luck tomorrow–6 AM till 2pm. Why does she insist on me being there at 6am? I just hope we have sufficient cover for whatever kind of day tomorrow turns out to be!

I’m really happy with my new washer and dryer! I’ve got a load of towels drying right now!! Tomorrow afternoon will most definitely be dedicated to laundry. I really need to go pick up a few groceries, but I’m not sure how likely that is to occur. I’ve got a hole in one of the 3 pairs of jeans I own, so I’d also really like to go look for another pair, but unless I’m feeling particularly insane tomorrow, that won’t be happening either.

I’m debating whether or not to finish the kitchen tomorrow. I think I’m gonna tell Andrew the rest of the dishes are up to him. Once those are done, I can crack down on straightening up the rest of it.

Ryan has a paper due Monday that he completely forgot about, so I’m gonna do some research for him tomorrow. He won’t even be able to start on it until late Sunday night, so I hope to be able to help him out some.

Alright, 6am will be here way too soon…
