Almost time!

I finish work at 7 tomorrow. Movie schedule allowing, we’ll be going to see the new National Treasure and then hitting the road! We should make it in sometime between 6am-8am, depending on when we get out of the movies and any stops. I’ve got my Dramamine ready!

We’ve been looking at city guides to help Ken (Ryan’s boss) find cheap hotels, and help his wife and daughter find touristy stuff for them to do. They’ll be in Saturday afternoon and Ken won’t be there till late Sunday, early Monday, so they’ll have a day to play around before they meet up with Ken and head to Texas to spend Christmas.

There aren’t any big events going on right now, but I’m insistent upon going to the Audubon Zoo and Ryan’s determined to hit the aquarium. I found out, we can get tickets for the zoo, aquarium, and imax for under 30 bucks! I’m so excited!

I know his mom wants us to spend some time browsing the French Quarter and I’m hoping that day we can hit the cemetery as well. The monuments there are so fascinating to me.

I went to New Orleans the summer before I started High School with our gifted class and fell in love with the place. I absolutely can’t wait to be back there this week.

Which reminds me, I need to wipe my camera and get it ready!

New Spears baby on the way…

Nope, Britney’s not pregnant again, but her 16 year old little sister, Jamie Lynn is! She’s 12 weeks along! I’d link you to an article but it’s really all over the place.

She’s still working for Nickelodeon…I wonder how they’ll deal with it.

Her mom was initially in shock because Jamie Lynn’s always been so level-headed…I mean, “She’s never late for her curfew.” <—-ahaha! ‘Cause you can’t possibly be having sex if you’re home on time. Sex can only occur after curfew.

Oh man the media is going to have too much fun with this one.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Mom was working on a parenting book for a Christian publisher…not so sure that deal will be sticking.

I actually clapped for these guys sitting here at home in my seat. This is great!

“The original members of Straight No Chaser perform their comedic version of “The Twelve Days of Christmas” at the Musical Arts Center, Bloomington, Indiana. December 7th, 1998.”

The Laughing Song

I realized on the drive home tonight that I can now share The Laughing Song with you via this new plugin. Can you listen without grinning?

Oh my name is Ticklish Ruben
from way down in old Vermont
I’ve been tickled by almost everything
I’ve been tickled by a feather,
I’ve been tickled by a wasp,
I’ve been tickled by a yellow bumblebee.

Today in Douglas

General 4 Comments »

I got up really late today, but I still made it to Douglas. I stopped and picked up some Little Caesar’s, which all got eaten–I’m a good granddaughter. Mom and Roger came back in with Jesalyn. They had taken her with them so Joshua could get a nap.

We exchanged gifts. They got me some really pretty earrings…they’re yellow gold and pink gold….I don’t exactly wear gold, I’m not totally sure how she forgot that, but that’s fine! They gave me some money too and Roger’s letting me borrow the Garmin for the trip so I won’t get lost on the drive home by myself. Now I know I won’t run into any “Tennessee land for sale” signs. I won’t be so wary of stopping for food on the way back either.

Mom really, really liked the Wallflowers I got her. Roger thought I spent way too much on the knives I got him, but they were totally taking them off the shelves at Lowe’s so I got something like a 90% discount on them ;)

Rocky Joe and Jessica got me one of those gift sets with stuff for s’mores, hot chocolate, and two snowman mugs. I think it’s probably the best Christmas present my brother has ever gotten me!

I finally headed over to Granny Lott’s. She’s lost weight, but she really didn’t look that bad. I think she’s handling it all pretty damn well. She’s really matter-of-fact about how everything is going. She said that really, the mornings are the hard part. Morning is when she really kicked off her routine and now she doesn’t really know what to do. She said she generally sits in the living room and has a little cry, then makes breakfast and gets on with her day. She’s so logical about it all. She knows she’ll eventually figure out what to do with her time and it’ll be easier.

I got Daddy the same knife set as well and I could tell he really liked it. Haha, actually, I remember thinking he looked like a little kid, itching to open them up but um, he kind of needed a knife to do it! lol

He gave me a gift card for Wal Mart to help pay for gas on the trip, or anything else. He finally got it right! I <3 gift cards!

Alright, I’m off to work on straightening up the apartment before we leave. I finally eased into that habit of my mom’s. She always hated to leave a messy house ’cause it meant she’d come home to one. I feel that. After my 8 hour drive, the last thing I want is to walk into a messy apartment. I’m sure Willow will already be setting up a few messes for me.

I swear all my customers today are on crack…or they just got out of drug rehabilitation. They’ve never seen or purchased a gift card before. Never ever had to return an item, or even pay for something with a credit card…

They wrote my hours down wrong on the clipboard–I was SO close to getting out of there at 1! Ha! That would’ve been nice.

I smashed my finger and broke the nail down where it’s still connected to skin. It felt nice compared to the mental turmoil some of these customers have been putting me through.

And the Blazers are currently losing the national championship. Dammit boys!

I want to not go back to work. Could you go buy me some toilet paper, please?

Here we go

My stomach is in knots and I’m on my second antacid this morning and my esophagus is still pretty much drowning in acid. 10-7 at Lowe’s today.

Wait, what’s that? You want to go to work for me? No? Oh! You want to pay me to stay home; well alright!

Today will not be my friend.

Finally!

We hooked up the Apple TV last night–finally! It’s not something we have a lot of use for, but it’ll come in handy.

I need an HDMI cable for optimal hookup, but Ryan said something about them running at least 30 bucks….so I hopped on Amazon and found one for $2.60 ;) Luckily, this spurned a search for an RCA splitter so that’s finally on its way! We’ve been doing a lot of switching cables this weekend between the PS2 and Wii for different games and dvds so it was really starting to bug me. Now if we can just get a good stereo cabinet, we should be able to really get all this stuff straight. The entertainment center we have just isn’t set up for all the stuff we have.

And Ryan wants to reorganize all the cords and stuff! So we’re slowly heading in the right direction.

Facebook “My Christmas Tree”

Web 1 Comment »

I’ve fallen in love with this app on Facebook. It was originally called “My Christmas Tree” but now goes by the name of “Festive Events” as they’ve added (and are continuing to add) other events.

I’ll describe it in regards to Christmas for the sake of simplicity, but keep in mind, this applies to other holidays and events as well.

First you select your decoration and a song. I’ve got a Jack Skellington Christmas tree and my song is “Making Christmas” from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Once you’ve done that, it’s time to send presents!

They’ve got all kinds of great things to choose from like popular electronics, joke gifts, cars, even a date with Johnny Depp. Then you’ll choose from a variety of little gift boxes, bags or stockings.

Finally, you write in a little message to your friend and select your options of the date it’s to be sent and if the message is to be hidden until the specified date as well.

Obviously, I haven’t seen the unwrapping in action yet, but according to the app, on the day specified (currently Christmas) you get to ‘unwrap’ each gift individually!

I think it’s great! It’s a great way to show all those friends you wouldn’t normally want to dole out cash on that you’re thinking of them! I can’t wait to see what some of my friends have picked out for me. I’ve been giving a lot of people the gifts I’d like to get for them if money wasn’t in the way ;)

If the above link doesn’t take you to the app, you can check out my profile and just scroll down to the Jack Skellington tree. Feel free to send some gifts my way!

I’m off to look through everything they’ve got and see if I can find some bodybuilding supplements to my brother as a joke. He…well, let’s just say it’s sort of an inside joke haha.

Unreal

I’m watching “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” and so far it’s cracking me up!

One thing is sticking out though, all these incredibly hot women are flocking over Adam Sandler’s character.

Now Adam’s a cutie, for sure, and maybe if we were talking Adam Sandler, it’d be believable, but this is just a character, and he’s just not that hot!

I swear when he’s 80 and using a stair lift to make it on stage to accept an award, he’ll still be playing characters with gorgeous women flocking him.
