Heath Ledger found dead

News 2 Comments »

Around 3pm today, Heath was found dead in his bed when his masseuse arrived for his afternoon appointment.

Though he was found with pills, it’s not yet apparent whether it was intentional or accidental.

Considering his recent split with Michelle Williams, I wouldn’t rule out suicide, but at the same time, he’s got a pretty big movie about to be released (The Dark Knight), a young daughter, and he was found nude….I just don’t know anyone who would plan their death, and want to be found nude. Of course I know, he might not have been in his right mind….

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

EDIT: It appears that he was currently sick–pneumonia, which lends even more to the accidental death theory.

Oh Georgia

This weather is unbearable. We keep going from hot to cold and it’s impossible to keep up.

Not only that, but even when it’s cold, if you make it warm enough downstairs, it’s boiling upstairs.

I woke up feeling sickly in the middle of the night because I was so warm. I was wishing for a warehouse fan, that would’ve done the trick.

They come in 6–24-feet in diameter and they put out a huge amount of air just from their size, not speed.

Maybe with something like that I could get the temperature right upstairs and get some decent sleep….jeeze.

Really…

I’m so sick of this work schedule crap. Twice this week I’ve been contacted because I’m still listed on the schedule to work while I’m in class and it keeps coming back as my fault even though I not only tried to give Peggy my availability in December, but on Monday, I left her a note with all the dates she needed to fix, and she’s been at work since then, I checked the schedule, and yet I’m still getting contacted…If there was an issue, she should’ve called me. After class tomorrow morning, I’m calling the work number. I’m tired of this. There’s no reason I should have to stress over this.

One Tree Hill started back last week. It was SO bad.

This week isn’t really any better. It’s like they’re teetering on the edge of doing something worth watching, but they just won’t go there! Like I said to Kristi last week, it’s essentially a soap opera so why won’t they just embrace it!

I need addiction treatment for this damn show. It’s not even worth watching anymore but I have to. It took almost 20 years to stop watching Days of Our Lives and I still can’t resist it when I pass it…*sigh* One day I’ll get over crappy tv.

Have you seen these things yet?! The sleekness, the full-sized, back lit keyboard, the 13 inch screen….this is the first laptop I’ve ever wanted. Sure, I’ve seen laptops that would’ve been nice to have, but I’ve never seen one and thought, “ohh I want that.”

I want this one though. I’d probably save to get one, except that I’m totally a Windows girl. Alright competitors! Step it up and bring me a comparable product!!!

Last night, I was shocked in conversation to find out that this guy was buying 5 different light fixtures, all $80 +, just to take home for his wife to choose one.

Wow. I can’t even fathom having an extra $320 that I could afford to tie up until I made the trip back to return the extra.

He’d have spent less money on gas if he’d just taken her up there some other time….and he’s still got to come back to return the extras. What purpose did that really serve?

Oh that’s right, it served to remind me that some people can waste money while others struggle to pay to see. [No I wasn’t at alllll bothered by that….*eyeroll]

The future looks blurry…

…because I can’t see. The last time I went for an exam, I wasn’t given the correct prescription. I went back and it was better, but it was never exactly right. Now, jeeze, like two years later, it’s way off. I’m still functional, but I can’t read the writing on the pen on the opposite corner of my desk.

I already have slight night blindness; add to that somewhat blurred vision and driving at night, or long driving trips really put a strain on my eyes.

The headaches are really starting to settle in too.

I’m sure spending ridiculous amounts of time at this computer isn’t helping either.

It’s also been forever since I changed my lenses. These are two week lenses and I think I’ve been wearing them for 6 months…This is just bad for my eye health altogether, and my eyes get worse every year. I’d really like to one day be able to get lasik, but your eyes have to be healthy enough and I’d hate to ruin that now.

I called today to get a quote on an uninsured eye exam. She said it’d be between $84-$120 for a visit for contact lenses. The contacts I currently wear are $20 a box. That covers the basics, but I also haven’t changed glasses in years. Not only are my current frames too small, but my lenses will have to be put through a process that thins them, otherwise they’ll be too thick for most frames, and that’s generally at least an extra $100, on top of the frames and the normal cost of the lenses.

I’m getting back just enough to cover just the basics (regular exam + contacts, not glasses) with my excess financial aid, but currently I have very few hours at work, so I might be counting on that excess to pay bills. It might be necessary instead of ‘extra,’ so I’m not sure what I’m going to do. I also really need to get glasses too, so that I can start letting my eyes breathe more often. I’m supposed to give them a break every once in a while, but right now, I can’t do that.

Anyone have an extra money tree lying around? One that can cover the cost of glasses? I’ll check ebay…

Nifty!

I’ve been clicking through tons of stuff already this week, and I came across a cable organizer that zips a bunch of your cables together. I’m actually really interested in trying these out. The entertainment center looks atrocious right now, no joke.

It’s a really simple design but it looks super easy to sort out. They provide labels as well which is something we desperately need over here. If those boys unplug my router one more time while I’m in the middle of doing something—cup check. In the most ferocious possible way. I mean it.

You can read about ‘em yourself if you’re interested.

Ryan’s got one more week to do something about the cords himself and then I’m taking over.

The Ultimate Steal

Have you upgraded to Office 2007 yet? No? Why not? Oh yeah, Office is ridiculously expensive.

I found a little deal a while back that I keep forgetting to share though. The Ultimate Steal is a deal from Microsoft. Current U.S. students can buy Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 for only $59.95.

The only requirements are a valid U.S. email address ending in .edu and that you be actively enrolled in at least 0.5 course load. (Their words, I’m guessing you have to be enrolled for at least half-time status.)

You purchase your license and download. A backup disc is also available for a fee, and if you ever need to re-download the software, or you have problems with your original download, they offer a variety of ways to grab it again.

The deal is valid from September 2007- April 30, 2008.

I’m signed up for a Microsoft survey program that runs in the background on my computer–after 3 months I’m supposed to be eligible for a free Microsoft product of my choosing, but I think if I wait for that, I’ll be cutting it close to the deadline for this deal, so currently, the plan is to use some of my small bit of excess financial aid this semester to get it. I really need it to be able to do all my ACED assignments at home, anyway and classes end in April.

So check it out guys! Seriously, it’s like a 90% off discount…just on the Office website, it’s $679.95 to buy new and $539.99 to upgrade… so yeah, you’re saving a little bit of money…it’s honestly one of the best deals I’ve ever found.

This is kinda not good

We’re taking a break right now. The grumpy-looking woman turned out to be my teacher, but she’s definitely not grumpy. That’s a plus.

Unfortunately, she has the most basic knowledge of computers. Now, I’m this doesn’t ring true for her knowledge of different Office programs, which we’ll get into very soon, because that’s what I was looking forward to truly learning. I mean really, this woman clicked the links in a spammy paypal email. And she’s just amazed by the internet, “I mean how do they do that?”

Okay we’re starting again. Maybe I won’t end up teaching my teacher…
