One thing Pete and I could always talk about was Phantom of the Opera. Our Gifted class read it back in elementary school and we’ve both adored it since. We even went to see the movie together when it opened.
I always told Pete if I became a millionaire, I’d sponsor a production of Phantom and he’d be my Erik/Phantom.
I’ve decided to get a memorial tattoo for Pete. I’m getting the Phantom mask, but I can’t decide on the text. I’m strongly considering, “Angel of Music,” but I want to consider other lines from the production. It’s going to be on my ankle, so it needs to be fairly brief. Any of you familiar with Phantom have any ideas?

the phantom mask is a WONDERFUL idea. i know pete would be so excited.
i was trying to think of random phantom songs i knew in particular, and the first one that came to mind was…
“wishing you were somehow here again.”
when i saw the musical, this song in particular made me tear up a lot. and when i thought about that song, i instantly starting fanning my face like an idiot so i could stop getting ready to cry. but maybe you should just do “angel of music” since it’s shorter. how big do you want the mask to be?

Phantom is my favorite musical on the planet. I am very sorry to hear about you friend– what a wonderful tribute.
What Catie said was awesome, but I’m not sure if that’s too long for your ankle or not. You could also do “Think of Me” or “Think of Me Fondly,” though it’s much less known than Angel of Music I would think.

I absolutely adore Phantom. I’m not really concerned with it being known, I’m just trying to find what feels ‘right,’ ya know? I’ve been listening to Think of Me quite a bit lately, actually. It was one we used to quote to each other =)
I guess I’m gonna go back and read the Libretto this weekend and see if I can find anything that pops out at me…
As soon as I figure out what I want I’ll be getting it asap. I have a tattoo artist friend who’s going to do it for free as soon as I’m ready.

What a beautiful memorial for a lost friend. Phantom is probably the most romantic opera/musical I know of, one of my favorites. I like the aforementioned idea of Think of Me, or maybe just even Remember Me. What about Sing For Me since he was going to be your “Erik” when you became a millionaire

Ohh I like the idea of “Sing for Me.” If I remember I’m finally going to take the Libretto into work with me so I can look over it on my break and when it gets really dead… Thanks for the input! Pop back if you or your hubby think of any other ideas. I’m really itching to get it done soon!
