Why in the hell can’t anyone just leave well enough alone?? Have you heard the tragic news? MTV is getting ready to remake The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Can you feel the excitement? No? Oh that’s probably because there isn’t any.
How in the hell do they think they’re going to duplicate Tim Curry in fishnets?? When this makes it to the screen I hope my term life is up to date ’cause it’s likely my head might explode in annoyance. Wtf man?
They’re using the original screenplay and possibly adding new music.
What’s the point? Is there something from the original they think they can improve upon? I certainly hope they don’t think they’re gonna duplicate it!

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be separated into two films! They’re set to release November 2010 and May 2011.
Alan Horn, president of Warner Bros. (the studio in charge of all Harry Potter pics), said that “it would have been a disservice” to downsize Deathly Hallows into one film.
They say there’s just too much to put in just one movie.
Well that’s nice an all, but couldn’t we have figured this out a little earlier? I mean honestly, with all the story lines they’ve cut from the movies so far, I think they could still do it in one film. Unless they plan on somehow bringing these story lines back…
The professionals just don’t know what they’re doing these days. Both music, movies and television-wise, they just need to turn it over to the fans. We know what’s best I’ll be buying medicare insurance by the time they get that figured out though….assuming we don’t all die in 2012. But hey, if we do–we’ll have at least finished off those last Harry Potter films, eh?!

I’m watching “I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry” and so far it’s cracking me up!
One thing is sticking out though, all these incredibly hot women are flocking over Adam Sandler’s character.
Now Adam’s a cutie, for sure, and maybe if we were talking Adam Sandler, it’d be believable, but this is just a character, and he’s just not that hot!
I swear when he’s 80 and using a stair lift to make it on stage to accept an award, he’ll still be playing characters with gorgeous women flocking him.

Perhaps you’ve read a bit about my Johnny Depp love. It’s a tiny little obsession. It’s absolutely healthy…
I was asked today about some of my favorite Johnny Depp film moments and two popped into my head almost immediately. Both are comedic rather than drool worthy, which is surprising.
In Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Johnny, as Willy Wonka, has this amazingly creepy laugh in one of the opening scenes. He puts a chocolate egg in Grandpa’s mouth to make a chocolate bird, and that laugh…oh man, Brittany I watched that scene on repeat! My dvd player has a feature where you can set it to play any specific part on loop…yeah, we utilized it!
Then we have the dirt scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Johnny, as Captain Jack Sparrow taunting Davey Jones saying, “I’ve got a jar of diiiirt!” Cracks me up! That probably has something to do with the video someone made, turning those lines into a song. *love*
I think if I was forced to choose, I’d have to go with the dirt scenes in Pirates. Not only is it hilarious, but Johnny’s a pirate. Pirates ftw!!
Those are both comedic, but I think when Sweeney Todd comes out, I’ll have some swoon-worthy scenes to throw in the mix, I mean, it’s Johnny Depp singing….does it get any better?! If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, you can visit the official Sweeney Todd movie site and look at Johnny in all his vengeful glory. I squee every time I see it.
You can also visit Sweeney Todd on MySpace. I added him last week!! I drool over those images when I login!!

I just finally watched “There’s Something About Mary ” for the first time. I was gonna review it on Aftershocks, but seriously? Why do people enjoy this movie? The type of humor is what I usually enjoy, but it’s a retarded plot, with crappy acting and it’s just all so over the top…and it doesn’t even come off as being done on purpose…it just sucked.

I remember hurricane season during my senior year being particularly active. Of course, my car wreck fell during this time and I was stuck driving my dad’s truck for most of it. He conveniently forgot to mention that sometimes, the windshield wipers just randomly stop working. Thanks dad.
After I got my car back, I remember driving to school in the middle of a hurricane one morning. I literally couldn’t see the hood of my car. I tried pulling into the far right lane so other cars could go around me and I could follow them, but instead they all pulled in behind me. It’s a miracle that I made it to school alive. There are about 7 red lights between my house and my high school and I only ever saw the first two. I must’ve been driving 5 miles an hour…
I got to the parking lot and there were teachers running all over the place, rushing people inside, where we were ushered up against walls in various hallways. I think we were there for three hours before they deemed it safe enough to bring the buses back and just let people go home.
That car drive was absolute craziness though. To this day I still don’t understand how I made it without hitting anything. I’m not at all exaggerating when I say I only ever saw the first two traffic lights.
There’s no telling what I passed in all that wind and rain–what I didn’t see.
The Mist by Stephen King calls up that idea of what’s in the unknown. A group of townspeople are trapped in a local grocery store by an overwhelming mist. It’s not long before they realize there’s something in the mist…something terrifying, something not from around here.
It releases November 21st. I’m thinking about taking my mom to see it. We love everything Stephen King.

In the summer of 2005, I decided I wanted to own every Johnny Depp DVD I could. Why? Well, beyond the obvious reason of Johnny Depp being ridiculously gorgeous, he’s a phenomenal actor. He chooses such great films to take on and I love that. Obviously there’ve been times when he’s taken a less-than-stellar role, but all is forgiven. There are some I’ve yet to see, but of what I’ve watched, I can only think of 3 that I haven’t loved.
I went at my task pretty hard for a bit, but obviously funds ran low and I had to give up for a bit. I’ve decided now, I’ll give myself a new deadline. By next fall semester, I want the rest of these DVDs. If you’d like to help, you can find most of these listed on my Amazon.com wishlist in my sidebar and my Birthday is next month, and don’t forget Christmas! Just sayin’.
Anyway, the list is under the cut. I love seeing all the strikethroughs!

…is Sweeney Todd. I’m so excited. I heard bits about this coming a while back, but I had no idea they were going so dark with it! Get a load of this.
Oh man….December won’t get here soon enough. You can bet I’ll be watching this one in the theater!

Last night Ryan and I went to the movies. We saw Pirates 3, since it’s at the dollar movies now and Ryan hadn’t seen it yet. Watching if for the third time, I caught a lot of little things I didn’t really notice originally, and it got me thinking about all the different levels in a movie.
Really, you’re doing something right if you can create a movie with so many different levels of understanding that a kid can watch and follow, the casual moviegoer can enjoy and follow, and a die-hard fan can constantly watch and look for new things to understand completely.
I just found so many instances where, originally I understood what was being said and done to a point where everything made perfect sense, but something would just hit me and suddenly I understood what they were truly talking about. For instance, in the end when Bootstrap refers to still owing a debt, it’s simple enough to see it as just his way of staying on. This is all well and good and keeps things rolling. But thinking on it, you notice the subtle nuances that point you in the direction of seeing he’s referring to owing Will, for all those years without a father. Not the most complicated example, but I think it’ll suffice to give you an idea of what I mean.
I guess it just really never occurred to me how complicated it can be to make a movie the general public can follow and enjoy without just flat out dumbing everything down. You can get as much out of it as you’re willing to look for. I think that’s just fantastic.
Now for the really girly part of this post.
Jesus H! I honestly think, at this point in time, I’d have to say Will Turner, in the end of this movie, is the sexiest character I’ve ever seen. All three times I’ve seen this movie so far, I’ve obsessed over Will for days after. I found myself getting way too excited to know he was coming soon.
I couldn’t find any fantastic caps of him as captain yet. I’ll probably have to wait until the DVD hits to get any really good ones. I could watch the end of that movie over and over again just to watch him. *swoon* I need to go take a cold shower now.

This has totally been my summer for movies! Every time I turn around, there’s another one coming out that I have to see! Up next on my list is Superbad! Seth and Evan are two co-dependent High School buds who’ve just found out they’ve been accepted to different colleges. Now’s the time, they’ve decided, to go all out and change their social status with one huge party that goes…not totally according to plan–of course!
The trailers and clips are cracking me up, and I know there’s so much more to come. They’ve taken over the Youtube homepage for the day (August 1st) so now’s the best time to see exactly what I’m talking about! (You can find 3 unedited clips on their site.) My personal favorite is Seth’s intro–the scene from Home Economics. I had FIVE Home Ec classes in High School that I never asked for! I feel his pain! I have no desire to ever again make another Crème Brûlée!
It probably doesn’t help that I’m a little partial to Jonah Hill. I’ve really enjoyed watching his career take off. He’s been in a lot of my most recent favorite comedies–namely the ones we watch constantly here in the apartment. I’m excited to see him in a larger role!
I keep cracking up over Evan’s video as well. He reminds me so much of someone I’ve known since High School. They favor each other as well! It’s weirding me out a little.
I also find it incredible that the writers, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, starting writing this script when they were only 14. “We just wanted to see if we could write a movie.” Man…apparently I was a waste of space when I was 14. I never wrote any movies, or won any prestigious medals, or cured any diseases…I should probably get on that now.
Anyway, stop reading my ramblings and go watch some clips for yourself. You know it’s about time you got ready to get out of the computer chair and out to see a movie anyway! This is the first ever Youtube homepage takeover, so let’s make it huge!
Want more? You can go to the Superbad official site for downloadable ringtones and wallpapers, maybe even some buddy icons if you’re Superbad enough.
