So earlier this week I read the headline, “Pringles can designer dies, buried in Pringles can” and all I could think was, “They made a coffin shaped like a Pringles can??” Talk about a blonde moment!

Of course, he was cremated and most of his remains were put into a Pringles can–the rest in a traditional urn.

He was 89. The Pringles can was his proudest accomplishment. I for one thank him for keeping my Pringles from being crushed!

“I think Pringles’ initial intention was to make tennis balls. But on the day that the rubber was supposed to show up, a big truckload of potatoes arrived. But Pringles was a laid-back company. They said ‘Fuck it. Cut ‘em up.’”–Mitch Hedberg

Oh just leave ‘em alone

So of course it’s now been confirmed that Ashlee Simpson & Pete Wentz are expecting a baby, so the media feel the need to bug Pete for lying about it. Perez gave the lowdown on what he had to say about it–basically that they really wanted to wait until they were sure things were going well and both mom and baby were healthy before sharing with the whole damn world! I really couldn’t agree with him more! No matter what your job, it’s no one’s business what’s going on in your personal life and I see nothing wrong with lying about such things. It’s not like he lied about some sketchy crime he committed.

I would’ve lied too! Perez poses the question of whether he should’ve lied or just kept quiet, but really, keeping quiet is as good as admitting it unless you’re always quiet about everything.

It’s enough that stars have to deal with exaggerated speculations about who they choose to date and why they marry–I mean think about it, unless you really know these people personally, you have no idea how perfect they may be for each other because you only know the persona they sell. As for them getting married because they’re expecting, it’s not so uncommon to be in a relationship that’s headed for marriage and just be in no rush to get there, so of course a life-changing event can come along and change your perspective and your relationship.

Obviously though, that’s just my opinion and it doesn’t sell magazines or gain site hits so what do I know?

Sucks to be them!

So Ryan just got off the phone with a long-time friend who works within the school systems in Atlanta area. Clayton County schools have now officially lost accreditation! Sucks to have this happen so close to the end of the school year since that leaves graduating seniors with very little time to make the necessary arrangements to be able to attend college in the fall!

They’ll be scrambling now to get something in place before the new school year begins, otherwise students will have to arrange to attend other schools in the area–not that there aren’t plenty to choose from, but it’ll be a pain for everyone in regards to how transportation will have to change.

I’ve just learned that Stephen King and John Mellencamp are teaming up to produce a musical.

It’s set to open in Atlanta in 2009 and possibly move to Broadway if it does well.

I….I don’t even have words. I should start saving money now. This is something my mom and I have definitely got to see together.

Wal-Mart Clinics?

News No Comments »
By The Associated Press

Wal-Mart Stores will open its first in-store medical clinics under its own brand name after leasing space in dozens of stores to outside companies that operate the quick-service health stops.

Apparently CVS, Walgreens, and Target are expected to follow?

I don’t know how I feel about this. I don’t have medical insurance so it’s likely, if there was one nearby, that this would be an option for me. Carrying around a medical id from Wal-Mart? I guess I could see that.

The only thing is that even with the Vision Centers within Wal-Mart it’s kind of hit or miss. I’m sure there will be some great clinics to arise, but at the same time, I foresee lawsuits in cases where the medical attention falls short–short enough to put someone in danger.

Haha–This also reminds me of a little old man I had as a customer back in my KMart days. He was convinced that Wal-Mart was communist and would comment on what they’d try to take over next. What’s next for the Supercenter? There’s groceries, general retail, deli, bakery, fast food, pharmacy, banking, optometry, general medicine, automotives, crafts…hmm I’m skipping a lot, I know. Aren’t there Wal-Marts somewhere that sell cars? Craziness. I wonder if Mr. Walton envisioned all of this…

Let’s nitpick

Miley Cyrus and her dad are getting ripped on because they’re not wearing seat belts in her 3D concert film “Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert.”

The magazine says they’re encouraging the trend….

I shouldn’t care, but it really annoys me. The media tries to take even the cleanest of stars and paint them as horrible people. She’s just getting started, guys! Give her time and I’m sure she’ll give you something to talk about.

On top of that, how many people would have noticed the lack of seat belts without having it pointed out? Ohhhh the power of suggestion. I really hate when people try to blow something out of proportion–especially when it’s something no one would even think of without someone leading them to it! Just shut up and write another story about Britney!

An immediate death by secondhand smoke

News No Comments »

Wow! In Michigan, a girl died from an asthma attack caused by secondhand smoke in the bar where she worked.

It’s the first case of secondhand smoke causing an immediate death.

She felt ill shortly into her shift and told her manager she needed to go to the hospital–she didn’t have an inhaler with her. She tried to use an inhaler given to her by someone in the bar, but was unable to.

Scary stuff. Having had my share of serious asthma attacks, that story pretty much terrifies me, if for no other reason than knowing about this will increase my stress level the next time I have an attack without a readily available inhaler.

I’m curious as to what this case will bring about. Granted, she had severe asthma, but I’m sure this’ll be used in arguments about the dangers of secondhand smoke.

Heath Ledger found dead

News 2 Comments »

Around 3pm today, Heath was found dead in his bed when his masseuse arrived for his afternoon appointment.

Though he was found with pills, it’s not yet apparent whether it was intentional or accidental.

Considering his recent split with Michelle Williams, I wouldn’t rule out suicide, but at the same time, he’s got a pretty big movie about to be released (The Dark Knight), a young daughter, and he was found nude….I just don’t know anyone who would plan their death, and want to be found nude. Of course I know, he might not have been in his right mind….

I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

EDIT: It appears that he was currently sick–pneumonia, which lends even more to the accidental death theory.

New Spears baby on the way…

Nope, Britney’s not pregnant again, but her 16 year old little sister, Jamie Lynn is! She’s 12 weeks along! I’d link you to an article but it’s really all over the place.

She’s still working for Nickelodeon…I wonder how they’ll deal with it.

Her mom was initially in shock because Jamie Lynn’s always been so level-headed…I mean, “She’s never late for her curfew.” <—-ahaha! ‘Cause you can’t possibly be having sex if you’re home on time. Sex can only occur after curfew.

Oh man the media is going to have too much fun with this one.

Edit: I forgot to mention that Mom was working on a parenting book for a Christian publisher…not so sure that deal will be sticking.

Gas for $.33?

News 7 Comments »

Last Monday night, an employee at a gas station in Wisconsin changed their gas price to $.329 and left for the evening. It was supposed to be $3.299, but the final 9 got left off. At this gas station, gas can still be purchased after closing–pay at the pump only, of course.

42 people “stopped by” and purchased 586 gallons of gas at the 33cent price! Police saw the crowds at the pumps and contacted the store owner, who pushed the emergency stop valves.

She called the people who purchased gas at that price dishonest.

I call them broke. If the average price in my town is $3.30 and I’ve got a chance to buy gas for $.33 cents, you better believe I would. People make mistakes, yes, but accepting that doesn’t mean we think they don’t have to suffer the consequences of those mistakes!

No, purchasing the gas isn’t the most honest thing to do, but how many people are going to pull in for gas and then decide to go elsewhere to pay more? How many people are going to be told they can get gas so cheaply and just pass it up? It’s gas! We’re being overcharged for it, and we know it, so why not take advantage when opportunity knocks?!
