My $1,000 post is now showing as approved. I had opened a support ticket to ask for confirmation and Karen just came through for me. It’s official; in 30 days I’ll be $1,000 richer and I couldn’t be more elated. To a college student in need, that $1,000 feels more like a million.
It’s nice to see such a large amount in my “Will be paid” section. (I haven’t earned nearly as much as Catie so far)
I was the top earner for the day until a $2,500 opp showed up, but that one had some really steep qualifications–Tricia did a great job of writing a wonderful post under pressure. Anyway, here’s a shot of the ‘leaderboard’ so to speak.
To the best of my knowledge, that little number by my name on the top earner’s list is basically your position number of people who signed up through payperpost. I was the 385th person to sign up, which excites me! I always knew I was in at the start, but I didn’t realize just how right I was about that. PPP went live in July ‘06 and my first post was on July 2nd. I’ve actually been curious what my number was for a long time and had asked around but no one seemed to know how to find out but I guess now I know!
Of course most of the money will go towards stuff I really need and bills, but I’m at least getting a new digital camera since I had been saving for that already and had to start from scratch after that darn towing fee.
My heart just sank! I was clicking around on PayPerPost to catch up on all the latest site changes and whatnot and there on the top of the page shone the golden PayPerPost chalice. Today’s $1,000 opp was THERE, begging me to click as quickly as my oddly small hands could. I clicked, and clicked, and clicked, thinking, “I never get these on time. I’ll get that dreaded red line of death telling me it’s taken.” But I was WRONG!!! This is the message I was greeted with: “Congratulations! You are the first person to grab the 1K Opp for 1K Tuesdays.”
I can’t even think straight right now as all these thoughts of messing up the post somehow are running through the back of my mind. I’m so thankful to have this blog advertising to bring in that little extra cash when I need it, and now is definitely one of those times. I’ve lost so many hours at work lately, it’s terrible. Add to that the cost of towing my car home and buying two new tires when I wasn’t expecting it, and I’m spent. I’m broke. I’m not even college student broke. It’s beyond that now. I’m searching for ways to pay for my summer semester, all the new things we have to buy for the apartment when our roommate moves out, and everything for banquet next month. Maybe PayPerPost has my answer!
Apparently, this week’s 1K Tuesday sponsor is Zookoda which upon further inspection looks to me like the fabulous email marketing service I’ve been searching for! Since moving my blog here, I’ve had trouble keeping my friends updated, but with Zookoda, I can send them summaries of all my latest blog posts to their email for FREE. Kristi will be thrilled I’ll be setting up an account as soon as I finish freaking out over this! So thank you Zookoda (wow that’s fun to say) for making this possible!
And thank you PayPerPost for this amazing chance! Good luck to all future posties on 1K Tuesday!
Just when I thought my days of enjoying extra PayPerPost cash every month were over, they introduce something new– PayPerPost 1K Tuesday! I’m so excited! Every Tuesday, there will be at least (I liked that part) one $1,000 opportunity “with NO segmentation guaranteed”!!!!! The opportunity will be released at a random time between midnight Monday nights and 11:59pm on Tuesday nights. With any luck, maybe I’ll be able to snag one. I could definitely use it! No doubt about that. Right now I’m hoping to earn enough money from my blog advertising to take my mom and Roger out to Mori’s Japanese Steak House for Mother’s Day next month.
I’m really curious to see how long this will run. In the blog post, they say, “Happy April Posties! This month is going to be exciting,” which leads me to think it’s only for the month of April, but the tone of the rest of the post makes me think it’ll be longer.
Of course this announcement is getting its fair share of yea and nays. Some posties are a bit unenthusiastic and maybe a tad bitter because they see this as an unreachable goal. Some suggest guaranteeing ten $100 opps every Tuesday instead. The rest of us think it’s fabulous! I think it’s superb that they’re doing this, and doing it unsegmented. I feel I have just as much chance as anyone else.
Wish me luck! Luck that my F5 key (refresh, if you don’t know) doesn’t die, and luck to catching a $1,000 opportunity!
Did Lemon Demon write “Geeks in Love” for you? No, they didn’t, ’cause they wrote that for me and Ryan, but that’s besides the point! Valentine’s Day is fast-approaching and I know SO many people who are stuck on what to get. I’ve got your solution though! Sure to be adored by college students and business-savvy folks alike, I give you engraved flash drives!
They’ve got a great deal going right now! 512MB Thumb Drive= $14.99, 1GB= $18.99, 2GB= $37.99, 4GB Thumb Drive= $69.99. All your choice of color and FREE laser engraving included! I haven’t found flash drives of those capacity for that cheap anywhere.
I really think these are a great idea for college students especially. Here at VSU, in both the Library and the Multimedia workshop, they sell reformatted flash drives for a low price. Know where they get them? People who leave their flash drives behind! You’re also asking for trouble if you step away from your computer to pick up stuff from the printer, or to go make copies of something. Flash drives are in high demand among students and some people have no problem sinking to that level. Having your name engraved on it is definitely a bit of theft deterrent! And it appears you’re offered two lines so you could get a name engraved without skipping out on the personal message of l-o-v-e =) Check ‘em out!
send everyone you know to watch my video on my outrageously bad concert experience. maybe i’ll get some money from the PayPerPost Concert contest so i can have a few good concert experiences this year to make up for all the mishaps last year!
really–i’ve had some rough times during concert trips, but this day really took the cake. this show was Jack’s Mannequin in atlanta. i was supposed to go to another in florida two days later, but i was having too many problems with my car still and i had no one to go with so i just gave up. that was really upsetting because i was hoping to get a better picture with andrew and actually make it to a decent spot in the pit (like i’m used to). but *le sigh* that didn’t happen. lucky me, i missed out on two other JM shows after that. yeah–some tears were definitely shed.
ted completely cracks me up with his extreme enthusiasm and the fact that he’s all for making a complete fool out of himself. i love it! the world could definitely use a few more ted’s. the completely random return of the catfish had me rolling in the floor too. other definite highlights would include the chicago-style rendition of rudolph red-nose gangsta, trying desperately not to have to write on her forehead, and the obvious fact that some of the objects were there simply because someone was hungry.
i’m ridiculously jealous of all the gear she got. i need a new camera so badly, and a photo quality printer for digital photo printing would be the icing on the cake. not to mention i adore free shirts. i’ve wanted to do the postie patrol since the first one. really, i’d love to do a postie patrol scavenger hunt.
This post was brought to you by HP, but the opinions are alllll mine.
so it’s definitely no secret to any of you that i obsess over the band Lifehouse. and most of you know that my love for Jack’s Mannequin/SoCo has grown to equal that of my love for lifehouse. what comes with all this band loving is an extreme concert addiction. i basically stalked lifehouse last year, going to five of their shows, skipping god knows how many classes, and putting my poor little car through hell. i’ve been attempting the same stalking with jack’s mannequin, but circumstances kept me from 3 shows, two of which i had paid for tickets.
now back in the day, i took a metric ton of pictures. friends laughed because i had like 130 pictures from an hour show…that’s at least a picture every 30 seconds. getting the stalker part yet? at my last concert, i probably only took 15. have my stalker ways subsided? nope. my camera has just been worn out, and it’s out-dated like whoa! it’s only 2 mega pixels. yikes. i love zooming in for close-ups, and i’m usually front row (when you show up at 11 am for a 6pm door, you’re pretty much guaranteed front row…and sunburn, fatigue, hunger and bitterness from all the folks who think they’re getting in front of you–HA) and front row sets me up for some really great zoom shots, but they NEVER come out looking as great as they do in my window. not to mention my camera is absolute shite now with concert lighting and fog. let’s look at some examples, shall we?
this is bryce, bass player of lifehouse:
this could’ve been an amazing picture of jason (lead singer) getting into one of my favorite songs…notsomuch though
playing the intro to a special song played only for our audience (i really wish this one looked better):
how about some jack’s mannequin? can you see andrew being amazing on his piano?
^^^terrible, right? what kind of stalker am i if i can’t even get a clear picture!? if i had one of those SWEET 6 mega pixel hp digital cameras that the payperpost folks have, i’d be BEYOND stoked. really, a stalker is only as good as her equipment, and frankly, my equipment SUCKS. 6mp > 2mp….seriously. check some of these cameras out. they’re amazing for digital photography. i wanted a new camera for christmas, but instead, i’m getting a spare tire and a water filter. i’m 21 years old and instead of getting awesome gifts, i’m getting crap i need ’cause i’m a desperately broke college student. new hp camera > SPARE-FREAKING-TIRE x’s infinity. i really do need a new camera though. how else am i gonna take drunken blackmail photos of all my neighbors? or have proof of when the guys of when i finally get a chance to go out and party with the boys of lifehouse? (it’s gonna happen! i swear it will!)
