Myspace issues

Just fair warning to everyone, I just got a friend request and the profile picture was kind of small so I clicked to go to the profile to see if it was someone I know. I got an error page, no surprise, with a link to “continue to profile” which took me to a more in-depth error page telling me my account had been hacked and I needed to ‘disinfect’ my computer and profile in 24 hours and there was a link to a file to do all this, stating that regular antivirus stuff wouldn’t cut it. Well, at this point I finally realized something was fishy so I didn’t click on it, thank goodness. I copy/pasted the page to a report for Myspace. I’m hoping the none of the original stuff I clicked on did any harm, but if you guys see my profile doing funny stuff, let me know, please.

Hopefully Myspace will let me know what’s going on with that and maybe release a message for other people so they know not to click on anything. That place is getting so ridiculous with this stuff!

Keri just bought me a new gnome a few days ago. His name is Petey D. Gangsta. (The ‘D’ stands for ‘Da’) So the gnome fever is back, and I dunno how to suppress it! I don’t guess I really have to though, as Online Discount Mart has a great 10% off deal going on through the rest of the summer for online shoppers.

I think we’re gonna start spiffing up the outside of Parkview for the Fall parties that’ll be going on here. I might wanna pick up some of their lanterns to put out there.

I’m so giddy right now. Tracy spotted my avatar on a forum an pointed me in the direction of this little gem:

I can’t stop listening and dancing around in my chair! For a minute I forgot I had no use of my vocal chords and tried really hard to sing along. This is totally going on my iPod.

P.S. For all my buddies reading this through the LJ friends page, PLEASE come to my blog and watch this video. I dunno why LJ doesn’t like cross-posting my vids, but you gotta see this one!

Lifehouse fans are like…better than the CIA. If it exists, we find it. If it’s gonna exist, we know about it first. There was definitely a point in time when the band was getting their info about themselves from us. It’s absolute craziness, but I love it.

We’ve got all the files there are to have. We’ve got different versions of every song played in concert. Where to go next? Higher quality. Of course, that presents the problem of how to keep that quality and still make it available to everyone since there’s always a fairly low file size limit for the sites we like to use for sharing.

*Ding Ding* I’ve found our solution guys! 500MB files and no download limits! I’m in file sharing Heaven *grin*I mean really, Driveway: “Size really does matter.” How could I be unhappy with any site displaying headlines like that? Consider this one bookmarked and my file sharing problems solved.

…and while I’m on the other end of the spectrum–working there–I can certainly appreciate her taking time to let others know about her experience on her new review blog.

It’s still really new but I’ve gotten sound advice from Lisa on the PPP message board before, and her other blog is certainly up to par so I’m expecting great things out of this one. I’m loving the color scheme and layout but she may want to format the wording for her Home Improvement category as it hangs inside the actual post for me in both Firefox and IE. Of course, if that’s the only thing I can find wrong, I’d say she’s in business!

It’s looking like we can expect reviews of just about everything from entertainment, to products, stores, etc. I wonder if she’ll take requests? Of course, reasonable ones for common things.

If you’ve had a computer for any significant amount of time, you’re no stranger to this scenario:

Your computer is dead. Time to reformat, or buy a whole new system. You scramble to recover any and everything you can get off your harddrive, only to later find out just how much you’re missing. Of course, but this point, it’s just too late. What now?

Of course, you could’ve prevented this. There are always preventative measures to be taken to ensure you always get the most out of your computer, and these days, it’s really necessary to take all precautions, considering how much we rely on computers. Hey, I’ll be honest, at the moment, I’ve got quite a few important documents on my computer that I don’t have anywhere else. I should really have hard copies of them, but it’s just so much simpler to keep them on my computer. There’s a simple solution though, that doesn’t even require me to leave my seat.

IBackup offers Online Storage at its easiest. Your uploaded content is available to you, mapped out just as it would be on a regular drive, and they’re the only one with the nifty drag and drop feature. I’m all about drag and drop. It just doesn’t get much simpler than that.I’m really happy to see they have a thorough FAQ section, and support is just a few clicks or a phone call away. Lately, I’ve been seeing far too many companies with support info buried within the site.

Where do they come up with this junk, for real?! I’m pretty sure the only reason they’re in those costumes is to make them look absolutely ridiculous. I like this better than Xtreme Elimination Challenge. I wish we got this on Spike TV. I’d watch it, for real! Crazy thing is, I know if this were an American game show, then all those positions would have to be doable…anyone know if it works that way in Japan? I don’t think there’s any way some of these can really be done though…(I meant to post this like 2 weeks ago, so if you’ve seen it by now, my bad…)

Scrubs fans…

If you’re a Scrubs fan, you’re familiar with “916-CallTurk” obviously you don’t need the K, but JD says he’ll always dial the K =)

Well, I found out the day after they wrapped shooting for the last season that 916-CallTurk IS in fact a working number that goes to their studio! When they’re recording, random cast and crew members will answer and chat with you depending on what’s going on. People have even gotten through to starring actors like Zach Braff and Donald Faison. I was disappointed to find out they were done shooting, but I still got to hear a great message. They leave different answering machine messages from time to time:

“Hey this is Doug and um we can’t get to the phone right now ’cause they’re trying to pull a body off me…”

Followed by some web addresses where you can hear podcasts and such. That’s the only one I’ve ever heard but I can’t wait till taping starts for the new season so I can call again :)

Of course, cell phones are lame and if you dial the K, you get an error, but you can pretend you dialed the K!!

Public Service Announcement

I started working in 2002. I’ve basically been a cashier since then. As soon as I started working, there were a few habits I developed due to working with the public. One of them was not to cover my mouth with my hand when I cough or sneeze. Think about it–of course you want to cover your mouth, but how often are you able to go wash your hands directly after doing so? Since 2002, I’ve been sneezing and coughing into my arm, rather than my hand. How many people touch my arm, versus how many people touch my hand directly or something that I’ve touched with my hands?

Why the hell am I blogging about this? I just saw a commercial showing a guy who’s never taken a sick day from work and of course it shows him coughing and sneezing all over people. One of his coworkers even calls him and pretends to be an official telling him they have to evacuate. Anyhow, it ends up with a little message about being smart– Don’t work when sick, Wash your hands frequently, Cough into your arm.

And I thought, why haven’t they thought to tell people this before? How about we start teaching little kids to do it? I guarantee I’ll be teaching Jesalyn and Joshua (and all my future nieces and nephews) to do it =)
