It’ll have to do…

Health Add comments

Well, Joolie and Brandell offered to help. I’m not sure if they offered before or after knowing how much money I would need–I’m gonna have to talk to Ryan about that, but if that’s all straight, I’m still not going for a CT Scan.

Before I get lectured, I’m well aware of what it could mean for my health, but I’ve got to do it the way I’m comfortable doing it. I’ll wait it out and if things get worse I’ll go to the emergency room and hopefully have it all straight once and for all.

I’m not comfortable taking someone’s money for a test that may still give no helpful results. I know it’s not the best idea to wait until something has to be done, but that’s what makes the most sense to me. If I just wait it out, I may see that it’s really nothing at all, and if it’s something big, at least by the time I feel like I need to go to the emergency room, they problem will be to the point of being obvious. If they want to scan me then, fine. But I’m really just not taking someone’s money without the assurance that it’s gonna do any good–especially considering what a negative experience it was visiting that doctor’s office. How am I supposed to feel confident that the CT Scan is necessary when this man completely ignored the things I mentioned as concerns and even took a phone call in the middle of my visit?

Again, I know it’s risky to just wait until something happens, but I feel like it’s really the only choice I have that makes sense.

I’m trying to make them aware of what’s going on at work. Hopefully keeping them aware will help me out when it comes to being uncomfortable at work. We were talking about taking a trip or two this summer, but until this is sorted, I’m not planning any Orlando vacations. I’m still planning to see Lifehouse at the end of June, but dammit I’m not giving that up.

I’m also gonna call tomorrow to find out how much the Lortab would cost. I wouldn’t really say it’s a strong enough pain to need Lortab, but it’s strong enough that I can’t ignore it and none of the other otc pain killers are touching it so I’d kind of like to have the Lortab for the longer shifts at work. I’d rather be sleepy while I’m there than hurting.

So wish me luck while I wait it all out!

The Lortabs will probably run you between $100-$150. It really depends on the strength and how many they prescribed.
If you tell me that, I can tell you how much they will be.
That’s the pain pill I took for almost the last 2 years straight, but now they have me on stronger stuff.
Email me if you feel comfortable, or you can just call the pharmacy and ask them, they should be able to tell you over the phone. :)

Investigate your local hospitals policies. Some of them have gotten smart enough to offer financial assistance for the uninsured. When I was interning, I got a hospital bill cut in half because I was poor, and they’re good about accepting a payment schedule, at least the one I dealt with was. Sorry you’re hurting. :/

Kat–we’ll assume this is in English, k? lol

My script says, “Lortab 5/500 tablet 500 mg-5 orally
    Disp: 30
    Sig: 1 tab(s) Q4H 5 day(s)”

I got that it’s a bottle of 30, but I’m not too sure on the strength…

Britt–They do offer some plans, but I’m full-time college and only part-time work. I’m living paycheck to paycheck as is and can’t afford to add another bill or I really and truly won’t be eating anything but ramen for the next year. In perspective–$2800 is about 1/3 what I make in a year. So if it comes to it and I need to go to the emergency room or whatever, then I can accept that, but I can’t just do it knowing that having the scan doesn’t guarantee an answer nor does that even touch fixing the problem. So I think waiting it out makes the most sense, ya know?

Maybe I’ll get lucky like our friend Christian did–he had an emergency appendectomy and they ended up writing off his bills as one of their charity things for the year! lol
