For those who don’t know, my oldest brother, along with his wife and two babies, live with my grandmother. What started as a convenience for my brother back when he was still a misguided bum, turned into a situation more or less for my grandmother. Now that the babies are quickly growing, they’re really buckling down and looking for a place of their own. It’s causing a decent amount of stir within the family too.
Everyone’s really gonna have to pitch in to keep everything running smoothly with Granny. She’s not overall disabled or anything like that, but she needs a little help with a lot of day-to-day tasks. Not to mention that she thrives on having someone around her all the time.
There’s always been talk of purchasing a trailer out near where my aunt lives, or even putting one out on their property since they’ve got a fairly large acreage, but when it comes down to it, I’m not sure even that’d be for the best. Of course all the obvious precautions would be taken–working alarms, medical jewelry, easy access to emergency numbers, extra rails and such in the bathrooms, etc, but like I said, she really thrives on being around people. It gives her an excuse to get up and keep going, ya know?
And of course no one is thrilled about the idea of actually selling the house. It’s an old house, and it needs a lot of work so if it were sold, it’d be leveled for certain, and I can’t even imagine how many generations of memories there are in that house.
I secretly hope they don’t find a house for a while, ya know? It gives Granny a purpose to have the babies to take care of.
