Sweet Catastrophe

I went to Douglas yesterday to give Mom her Birthday present. Her Birthday was in January but she wasn’t expecting any gifts at all so better late than never ;)

I came up with the perfect gift for her. I got her an awesome digital photo frame. When you walk into my mom’s house all you see is a wall of pictures– this was something she needed! She was so excited about it too!

She takes pictures of the babies constantly and can’t keep the same screensaver on her computer for more than a week so I knew she’d love this! All she has to do is transfer the pictures she wants straight to the frame, or she can put them on a memory card and use that. It’s pretty simple.

I did a lot of research to check reviews and specs for the ones that look best and have the fewest complaints and best features, and then I started checking in periodically for deals. Most of the ones worth having are still pretty pricey, but I knew if I kept looking often enough I’d find one on sale. Looks like they must’ve sold out of the one I got for Mom because I can’t seem to find it now, but I’m not at all surprised. It’s a $100 frame that I got for $50 =) With my brother pitching in and some gift credits I had, I only paid $15 myself but I had the idea and I delivered it so I got the good daughter credit! lol

I’m not done though, I’m going to get her a memory card for the frame as well, but I’m gonna have to wait until I have more than $17 to last me two weeks! I’m not too worried about it though; I’ve been keeping an eye out and buy.com seems to always have plenty of good deals to choose from on the SD Cards.  I want to get her one that’s at least 2GB and they’ve got more than enough of them to choose from for under $10. I can handle that when my next paycheck hits.

I’ve also got a few of our old photo albums here with pictures I know she doesn’t have copies of. I’m gonna go through and scan the majority and burn them so she can have copies and move some over to her frame as well so she’s not limited to just newer pictures. I’ll let her pick out some in her collection too that I can scan and email to her.

Hopefully I can catch some more good deals from buy.com this year and score digital photo frames for both of my grandmothers. I’d like to round up at least one good picture of every family member to set up slideshows for them. They’d enjoy theirs with just one set of photos, but I know my mom will constantly be changing out and adding to hers! Good thing it’s set to hold about 2,000 pictures on its own! haha
